Lexi Pierson – Lexi Pierson

Apr 12th, 2009 | By Thomas Garcia | Category: CD Releases

SRS Alexis A. Pierson, or Lexi for short, is currently on USAF active duty and will probably read this review as she removes the Iraqi from her military issued combat boots. She s an incredibly talented singer songwriter from the Bay Area and, prior to her deployment December 2009, managed to assemble a strong following throughout the Bay Area. This self-titled 2007 release cleverly demonstrates Lexi’s unique style of folk singing; songs like “Society and I” and “It’s Over” bring to mind thoughtful images of Bob Dylan, Ani Difranco, or, more appropriately, a young vibrant Pete Seeger. Lexi’s lyrical artistry, combined with soft, almost evocative musical salience, meticulously documents her raw, unadulterated life experiences; it’s fairly obvious that “Misunderstood” is about her private struggle with career choices. Above all, Lexi Pierson’s poignant musical and lyrical sincerity is both memorable and welcome. She scrutinizes unpretentious nooks and cautiously combines fictional crannies which, of course, make for a sensitive yet capable musical journey. According to Ms. Pierson, she’s planning to return to the Bay Area and pick up right where she musically left off: recording and performing her exceptional brand of singer/songwriter storytelling and killer performances with a casual sofa-styled comfort. This time, however, SRS Alexis A. Pierson will have plenty more gut wrenching, in-your-face experiences to draw upon this time around. We can’t wait!
