Hundred Proof – Lip-smackin’ Dee-licious!

Bay Area country rockers Hundred Proof takes pride in creativity and versatility. The group’s original material reflects the kindred spirit of Toby Keith, George Strait, Lynryd Skynyrd, Marshall Tucker and Hank Williams, Jr. formed over 18 years ago in Safety Harbor by brothers Dave Jackson and JR McKenna, Hundred Proof has played across Florida and Southwest United States. Joining the McKenna brothers are four equally talented and creative musicians.
Vocalist David Jackson grew up listening to and singing along with the early country greats. His first “stage” appearance was at The Maverick in Oldsmar, Florida. He was nine years old and, as the Bobby Hodge Band played, he and JR sang Ronnie Milsap’s “Smokey Mountain Rain” and Johnny Lee’s “Lookin’ for Love.” Needless to say, the brothers brought the house down. From that moment, Dave envisioned writing songs and forming what would eventually become Hundred Proof.
After joining Dave on stage at the Maverick, guitarist J.R. McKenna caught a rare strain of musical fever. He picked up an old guitar at a yard sale and Hundred Proof was born. J.R still shares Dave’s vision of playing music, entertaining people and making unforgettable memories for everyone involved. Guitarist/Keyboardist Ron Barton’s father was a piano and harmonica player. In addition to owning a recording studio, Ron has written many songs, worked for singers/songwriters and spent plenty of time working on material for Hundred Proof.
Leads guitarist Jack Bowder grew up in Tampa FL and began playing guitar at the age of 12. After a brief stint in the military he spent the last 17 years playing in Seattle country bands. His six string chops are sharp as he skillfully combines both country and rock licks to flavor 100 Proof’s musical prowess. He also sings, and truth be told Jack can effortlessly belt out country rocker or weep during a tear-jerker ballad.”
Bassist Gorgeous George Sutton began playing piano at 5 years old. He particularly fancies the wash tub bass and played lead guitar in several successful high school rock bands. Gorgeous George once shared the stage with Original Drifting Cowboys and Nashville country recording artist O.B. McClinton. His passion for providing low-end bass ensures a thorough pumping and pounding rhythm at every Hundred Proof performance.
Last but not least is Beau Garrow. Beau and his father, Clifford “MOONDOG” Garrow, played country music together. The younger Garrow insists that country music is in his blood. He also believes that his “outlaw” style of drumming is a perfect addition to Hundred Proof’s sound. Beau has played the Nashville scene these past ten years and looks forward to rockin’ in Tampa Bay Music Scene.
